The Devil's in the Details

Wow, this has defiantly been a busy summer for us! I have about a week before I need to dive back into work again, so I'm taking this opportunity to catch up on my poor, neglected blog.

Most of June was spent preparing for our big day. Thankfully, the 'troops' rallied to help us with a myriad of wedding details. Ken's parents, Pat and Ken, flew in early from Virginia for this very reason. We also had the aid of the usual suspects: Wanda, Kerry, Heather, and of course my mom and Doug. Our brothers, Steven and Clint; and my sister-in-law, Georgia, also flew in to help. We constructed assembly lines for the favors, centerpieces, programs, and hurricanes, not mention the trips to Michael's, Home Depot, and the shady orchid place.

All the bridal magazines (or effective brainwashing tools for young brides, as Ken refers to them) insist that every future bride and groom should have a 'theme' for the wedding that captures the essence of their relationship and personalities. As most of you know, Ken and met while he was working as an outdoor educator at a camp in Idyllwild. So given the circumstances in which we met and our shared interests, we decided to go with a nature/botanical feel for the wedding. (This is why, BTW, all the tables were named after national parks we've visited).
